Big News for 8U Families: Lowered Pricing!
We all know that the cost of everything around us continues to climb, and rink operating costs are no exception. However, we believe deeply in making the game accessible and growing our hockey community from the ground up.
This year, we have intentionally reduced our base 8U fees—lowering 8U Select by $200 and 8U Open by $50—to help ease the burden on families and get more young athletes falling in love with the sport.
Returning Players
If your player participated in any of our Fall/Winter regular season programs (8U, Recreational, or Competitive) during the 2025–26 season, you will be able to register and pay your deposit as soon as the registration opens.
Every player must register with USA Hockey and obtain a new USAH # for the 2026-2027 season.
New Player Transfer Policy
Thank you for your interest in joining Lafayette Locomotive. We’re excited to connect with you and provide more information about our programs. A member of our team will be in touch soon to answer any specific questions you may have.
Players who were not members of our organization during the last season are required to complete the New Player Application. Once submitted, Lafayette Locomotive will review the application and verify compliance with applicable player transfer rules for each age division. Please be aware of the following CAHA regulations:
- CAHA Policy 10.1.1.1: No transfers shall be able to register until July 1st.
- CAHA Policy 10.1.1.2: If a member organization receives an inquiry from a potential transfer, they shall notify the transfer’s current member organization Director or President in writing within 3 business days.
We appreciate your understanding and look forward to helping you take the next steps in your hockey journey.
If Accepted (LHC will accept new players as early as July 1st)
- Complete the payment registration: 2026-27 Lafayette Locomotive Season Registration
- If transferring from another club:
- Download and fill out the CAHA Player Transfer Form.
- Submit the form to your old association for their signature. They must sign to confirm you have no outstanding financial obligations.
- Once the form is fully completed and signed, upload the file to the LHC Transfer Forms Database.
Policy Exceptions: Certain exceptions to the new player transfer policy may apply, including but not limited to: Out-of-state transfers, Tier I transfers, and Tier II transfers.
Non-USA Citizens
Any player who does not hold USA citizenship is required to submit a completed transfer form to USA Hockey. This must be processed and approved before a player can participate in regular season games. This requirement includes players who hold permanent resident cards (green cards).
Payment Options
This season, we feature an upgraded registration system with highly flexible, automated payment plans that allow you to split your balance into manageable monthly installments of your choice.
1. Pay in Full Option
Families have the flexibility to pay their entire season deposit and/or season balance in full at the time of registration.
2. Flexible Payment Plan Option
This year, we have upgraded our system to a highly flexible, automated payment plan that splits your total balance into manageable monthly installments of your choice.
- No More "Catch-Up" Payments: For our standard programs, your personalized payment plan begins on the exact day you register. If you register later in the summer, you will no longer be forced to pay a large lump sum upfront just to catch up on missed calendar deadlines.
- How It Works: The registration balance is automatically divided into even, equal installments depending on your choice of payment plan. Your first installment is due immediately at checkout, and the regular monthly schedule will follow.
- Multiple Plan Lengths: Registrations will feature multiple payment plan pathways that you can choose from to best fit your family's budget.
3. 16U AA & 18U AA "Opt-Out" Exception
This specialized pathway is strictly available to players trying out for our 16U AA and 18U AA teams who choose to opt-out of automatic lower-level club placement:
- Upfront Costs: At the time of registration, you will only pay for the initial tryout fee and any selected camp & clinic add-ons. Payment plans for the tryout and camp fees are not available if you select the opt-out option.
- Deferred Season Fees: All season-related costs (including uniform fees and the season deposit) are completely deferred. You will only be charged if the club confirms a AA roster spot for your player. At the time of your initial registration, you can choose to set these deferred season fees on a payment plan or pay in full. However, please note that this specific plan will backdate to start from the day of your initial tryout registration, meaning catch-up payments will be required at the time of team placement.
Registration Protection Insurance
Each family has the option to purchase an insurance policy from Vertical Insure.
Important Financial Note: Please be aware that Lafayette Hockey Club does not provide refunds. If you registered using a payment plan, you remain responsible for any remaining scheduled payments. Any claims for covered incidents must be filed directly with Vertical Insure.
